DESCRIPTION:Learn the traditional skills of making an original sterling silver ring or pendant by hand.  Explore your own design with Alexandra a professional silversmith who has studied Silver smithing and Jewellery Design at Chelsea and Kensington College.  Alexandra is passionate about jewellery making and teaching the craft to others.  \n\n\nTutor: Alexandra Mostyn – Alexandra Mostyn Jewellery \nDate: Weekend Workshop\, 10th\, and 11th April 2021\nTime: 11am-4pm\nVenue: The Artery\, Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga \nCost: $220 \nBOOK HERE\nSupplied: Tea\, coffee\, and biscuits. Some Tools and materials.  However\, students will need to bring some tools and silver listed below.  You will need to wear safety goggles\, apron\, closed shoes\, and your hair tied back.   Bring your own packed lunch or visit the Whipped Baker Café just down the road. \nPlease bring: Sterling silver sheet metal 8cms squared. DESCRIPTION:Learn this most ancient of jewellery techniques. Spend the day making your own chain from scratch\, by hand with basic tools.\n\nIn this six-hour workshop\, along with other keen crafters\, you’ll learn about different types of chains and metals as well as the jewellery making techniques you’ll need to design\, form and assemble your chain. We’ll also cover finishing techniques so that you can wear your new adornment home.\nWhen: Sunday 25th April 2021\nWhere: The Artery\, Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga\nCost: $135\n\nTo Book: Email me\, Ruth\, through the Contact page on my website or at bronnsmith@gmail.com\n\n\nTOOLS & MATERIALS\n• Jewellers saw and saw blades (size 2 and 0/2)\n• Ring clamp\n• Vice\n• Electric hand drill\n• 1mm+ wire\n• Assorted rods: 3mm+ drill bits or knitting needles are recommended. Plastic or metal\, not wood.\n• Files and sandpaper\n• Hammer and block\n• Flat nose/chain nose pliers x 2\n• Pen and paper\n\nAll tools will be supplied to use during the workshop. They will also be available to purchase if you want to continue your chain-making at home. But\, of course\, you are welcome to bring any of your own tools you’d like to use.\n\nAlso supplied\, will be a limited supply of either brass or copper wire in your choice of gauge depending on your chosen style of chain.
