SUMMARY:Café Scientifique: Warren Banks- Primary Industry Research
DESCRIPTION:Warren and Julia have been involved in Café Scientifique Tauranga for 15 years now and you often ask what we do in our working lives.  Well\, here’s your chance to find out about Warren’s life in science. \nWarren Banks MNZM studied Chemistry and for 50 years has worked in Research and Industry in technical and management roles.  He will share some of his experiences in wool research\, and several Primary industry sectors including\, dairy\, cheese\, fertilizer\, chemicals logistics and timber treatment. \nHe has developed new technologies\, some which have been patented and sold internationally. \nWarren is motivated by the principal of reusing materials for a different purpose.  Taking a waste material from one source to solve another long-standing problem just makes sense.  He’s a kiwi innovator and due to our geographic isolation\, often has to think outside the box to make overseas technologies perform functions they were never intended to do and to find better ways to solve a problem rather than throwing more money at it again makes sense. \nCome along get an insight into a few original developments in Milk clotting enzyme manufacture\, remediation of contaminated ponds\, dairy clean-in-place technology\, remediation of pasture after chemical contamination and biological control of grass grubs. \nWhen: Mon\, 23rd February 2026   7:00 pm – 9:00 pm\nWhere: Tauranga Yacht & Powerboat Club\, 90 Keith Allen Drive\, Tauranga\nTime: Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.\nCost: $10 door fee covers venue hire and nibbles.  Eftpos available. \n\nRegister by emailing  julia.banks60@gmail.com \nand by including the number attending \n\n\n\nCafé Scientifique Tauranga dates for 2026\n\n\n·        23 February\n·        23 March\n·        20 April\n\n\n·        18 May\n·        22 June\n·        20 July\n\n\n·        17 August\n·        21 September\n·        19 October
