SUMMARY:Woodcrafters: Wood Turning Group
DESCRIPTION:Our Turners Group meets each month on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 9:30am & 1:30pm and the 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:30am at the Guild’s Workshop. Our Turning Group meetings combine hands-on learning sessions with one on one instruction in the mornings followed by a group project and critique in the afternoons. \nExperienced members work with new turners to develop skills and to build people’s confidence in using the equipment correctly. \nOur workshop is well equipped with lathes. New members can use a good selection of turning chisels and scrapers which are owned by the club until they build their skills and begin to buy their own equipment. \nThe Turning Group build members skills by setting a monthly project and then having an experienced turner critique each members contribution at the following meeting. Their objective is to explore new ideas and to improve. \nWebsite: http://taurangawoodcrafters.org/turners/ \n \nOther woodcrafting groups operate as well. \nThe Tauranga Woodcrafters have monthly meetings for our different interest groups at the workshop. Carvers meet on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month at 9:30am.  Scrollsaw Group meets on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays at 9:30am. Open Workshop (covering all areas of woodworking interest) meet on 2nd & 4th Wednesday’s at 6:30pm and 2nd & 4th Saturdays at 9:30am. We have a full club monthly meeting on the 3rd Saturday at 1:30pm.

SUMMARY:Weaving your own kai kete with Andrea and whanau
DESCRIPTION:Why not learn this very relaxing craft. \nI found weaving very therapeutic\, when my children were young and I needed some time out for me. It’s a very practical skill to have and very sociable\, as I learned at a local marae in Hokianga in Whirinaki. Hone helped me lots to prepare my harakeke so I could do some creations once the tamariki were in bed. \nIn this small wananga we will make a kete for your vegetable ( onions\, potatoes..). If you want to make them huge afterwards\, you could make them into washing baskets\, or toy baskets for your children.\nWe will work in our garden under a great big tree. We will have some family members helping out this time. \nCome with an open mind and a big smile. The only tools you’ll need are your hands and kind thoughts about yourself. No weaving experience needed but great if you already worked with it. \nDate: 13th February 2022 \nVenue: 19 Waikite Way Welcome Bay\nTauranga \nTime: 9.00- 5.00 pm with many little breaks to stretch and refresh to keep your focus \nAll day investment: $95 \nInclusive a healthy lunch\, tea/coffee and home made kombucha. Please bring along something wholesome to share and advise if there are any food allergies\, thanks.\nFurther some tutorial videos will be released to you after the hui. \nWe are very much looking forward to meeting and weaving with you all. We’ll have plenty of space and our small group enables you to get quality learning but also safe social distancing ( with extra tutor helpers this time). \nPlease note: We have a no refund policy\, but if not able to attend\, the ticket can be forwarded to a future workshop. \nBooking is essential as we have limited numbers for this workshop. \nAndrea 0279557499 \nKiwihomesteaders@gmail.com\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/kiwihomesteaders \nBOOK HERE
