DESCRIPTION:The perfect opportunity to have broken belongings assessed or repaired is right around the corner. \nTauranga hoarders\, tinkerers and holders of broken gadgets can rejoice\, as Tauranga’s Repair Café pop up  opens up on the last Saturday of each month at 148 Durham Street\, Tauranga. Get your objects fixed for free! Volunteers try to repair items destined for landfill. Get your objects fixed for free! \nRepair Cafés are described as “free pop-up events” where local people can bring in their “broken or damaged belongings” to local volunteers\, who do their best to repair or assess them. \nTauranga is joining the global movement with its own Repair Café with a volunteer driven initiative as part of Tinkd Makerspace. \nAccording to a spokesperson\, Repair Cafés aim to reduce waste and overconsumption. \nThey also encourage and foster the “do it yourself” spirit and strengthen social connections by bringing different members of the community together. \n“The purpose of these events is two-fold: to try to change our “throwaway culture” and to bring people in the community together. An added bonus is that it saves people money\,” says founder of Tinkd Makerspace\, Steven Vincent. \n“If their item can be repaired they don’t need to replace it\, pay for more expensive repairs elsewhere\, or send it to the landfill. DESCRIPTION:Coming up this evening 26th September…\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n• A live presentation about planning and taking spectacular Moonrise photos / videos (Full Moon is on 30 September).\n• An update on our latest Meteor Camera captures\n• The latest in astronomy news from NASA\, ESA\, Rocket Lab etc.\n• A selection of other interesting videos and items.\n• Telescope viewing – . Saturn is now high enough to be viewed throughout the evening. The Moon will be 86% illuminated. Scorpius and the Southern Cross are the main constellations currently visible.\n\nThe meeting starts at 7:30pm. We have a 10 minute break at around 8:30pm before the second half starts at 8:40pm. The main meeting will finish at around 9:15pm. Telescope viewing may continue after 9:30pm weather permitting and depending on the visibility of suitable objects. \n\n\nMeetings are held in the Otumoetai Sports and Recreation Club building\, Fergusson Park\, end of Tilby Drive\, Matua\, Tauranga on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm.
