Learning to handle the pastels and the attractiveness of the work you can produce is very satisfying.\nYou are welcome to attend Mary’s sessions and see for yourself the versatility of this medium which is suited to either large\, ambitious compositions right down to small quick sketches. DESCRIPTION:Come along to our Life Drawing bi monthly Life Drawing Session\nLife Drawing Session Friday (first and third Friday of the month) \nWhere: 171a Elizabeth Street West\, Tauranga\nKoha: $10.00 for Society Members\, $15.00 for Guests \nLife Drawing\, Figure Drawing… the act of drawing a living person.\nIt’s one of the most challenging and interesting ways to develop your drawing skills. Skills that translate to all aspects of art making.\nIt’s also a great way to escape into your own world for a little while.\nThis is an untutored session\, however\, we won’t leave you completely alone if you are new to it and need a little help getting started. It is a very friendly\, mixed level\, session and you will be surprised what you can learn and achieve with a little encouragement.\nIf you are an experienced artist or student a Life Model will give you unlimited inspiration and a chance to experiment with your technique\, materials and style. And we all appreciate and are inspired by new approaches.\nWe always take time for a feedback session before we leave. This is a positive and invaluable part of the session. It is inspiring looking at what worked during the session and why; sometimes the less obvious “works” provide the most interesting insights. There is always something to learn.\nBring your own drawing/painting gear (any media is fine)\, there is usually sugar paper available for sale at the Art Room. We do have some easels at the rooms\, but they are limited. If you have your own please feel free to bring it along.\nPlease turn up in time to assist with set up\, and stay on to assist with pack down. We are a self supporting group and if everyone helps it is very quick and easy. \nPS:  If you are interested in modelling and are available please feel free to PM me. We love experienced Models\, but are happy to use a sprinkling of “new” models… so don’t be reluctant if you haven’t done it before.

The class is open to all those interested in portraiture. We are a friendly lot\, there is no pressure and all work at their own level. \nRobin spent 4 years at Art School in London\, and then went into advertising\, working as Art Director for two of the biggest advertising agencies in London. It is a very friendly\, mixed level\, session and you will be surprised what you can learn and achieve with a little encouragement.\nIf you are an experienced artist or student a Life Model will give you unlimited inspiration and a chance to experiment with your technique\, materials and style. And we all appreciate and are inspired by new approaches.\nWe always take time for a feedback session before we leave. This is a positive and invaluable part of the session. It is inspiring looking at what worked during the session and why; sometimes the less obvious “works” provide the most interesting insights. DESCRIPTION:Pastel painters love the immediacy of drawing with a rich and painterly colouring power. If you haven’t used them before you may be surprised at how easily the essential techniques can be mastered. Learning to handle the pastels and the attractiveness of the work you can produce is very satisfying.\nYou are welcome to attend Mary’s sessions and see for yourself the versatility of this medium which is suited to either large\, ambitious compositions right down to small quick sketches. DESCRIPTION:Karen Pritchard is Leader of the Thursday art group. We are a friendly bunch\, interested in each other’s work and multiple media techniques. We have several artists skilled in the use of oil paint\, acrylics and water colours. \nThe last Thursday of each month an artist in the group will share four of their pictures.\nLearn about using a variety of art methods\, advice and support with your art work is available. \nThe use of oil paints can require solvents and strong smelling liquids which do not suit everyone. We set aside this special time for our special members who love these smells and produce amazing works with their medium of oil paints. Come and join the oil painting group if this is you\, every Thursday morning of each month. DESCRIPTION:Portraiture with Robin Purllant\nThe aim of the class is to encourage with positive\, constructive information\, with critique and sharing. The class is open to all those interested in portraiture. We are a friendly lot\, there is no pressure and all work at their own level. \nRobin spent 4 years at Art School in London\, and then went into advertising\, working as Art Director for two of the biggest advertising agencies in London. He spent many years involved in “big-name” accounts and his knowledge of all mediums is extensive. \nEvery Second and Fourth Wednesday Morning of each month\nMorning 9.30 – 12.00
