DESCRIPTION:Tauranga Opera Forum presents regular DVD screenings of your favourite operas. \nThis month:  Henry VIII\nOur chosen production of HENRY VIII is from Theatre Imperial de Comiegne 2003\, with Philippe Rouillon\, Michelle Command\, Lucille Vignon\, and Alain Gabriel. \nHenry VIII is an opera in four acts by Camille Saint-Saëns.\nThe action covers the period in Henry VIII’s life when the king was attempting to divorce Queen Catherine of Aragon in favour of marrying Anne Boleyn\, a move rejected by the Church. \nIn an effort to evoke the historical context\, Saint-Saëns researched English music from the period and incorporated several English\, Scottish\, and Irish folk melodies into his score\, as well as an air by William Byrd\, contained in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book. \nScreening time is 200 minutes\, with a 15 minute intermission part way through. \nTickets ($20) for the screening may be purchased from: \n\nBureta Pharmacy\, 76 Bureta Road\nHouse of Travel\, cnr Willow & Spring Streets\nONLINE at 38-9019-0116100-00 with\n\nthe Particulars – your name\nthe Code – HENRY\nthe Reference – your phone number\n\n\n\nTickets include entry to the event\, a preliminary glass of wine\, & delicious finger foods.\nMasks should be worn as per usual and sensible social distancing maintained.\nDrinks and canapés will again be served.
