Learn the basics of how to use the tools needed to craft shapes from stone. Create and design a 3D sculpture. Covers basic carving techniques in soft stone (Oamaru stone); all the stone and carving tools supplied. Participants to arrive with an idea in mind to produce a stone sculpture over the weekend. Very small class with a max of 5 students.
Tutor: Rex O’Brien
Explore how to use tools to shape stone with award winning and experienced tutor and artist Rex O’Brien. Rex holds a Diploma in Art BOP Polytechnic, has been carving for over 18 years and been instrumental in organising and participating in carving symposiums nationwide.
