WINGS of DESIRE (1987)
Our second screening for our Cult Cinema Club Winter sessions is an arthouse cult classic. Directed by the one & only Wim Wenders, this is a fictional film set in a divided Berlin. The story follows two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, who silently observe the city’s inhabitants, listening to their thoughts and offering comfort. Despite their immortality, Damiel longs to experience human life—its sensory pleasures, emotions, and love.

From 5pm – 7pm, Italian food truck Sicula will be serving delicious Sicilian food, accompanied by smooth brews from Mount Brewing Co. Brewery & candy bar refreshments from the Cult Cinema Club pop-up licensed bar located inside the cinema.
All this goodness accompanied by a live acoustic performance by the sublime Sophie-Maude Music, you can be certain Cult Cinema Club puts a whole new spin on ‘a night out at the flicks’!
Lights down in The Village Community Cinema from 7pm where cinema-goers are invited to settle in and indulge in top-shelf cinematic viewing with independent short film LOOSE END by Great Lake Film Society, supported by Film Bay of Plenty, followed by Wim Wenders arthouse classic, Wings of Desire!
