About Rod
I started coaching in Wellington with Kevin Woolcott where we ran the indoor tennis centre in Evans Bay. I was based at Khandallah squash and tennis club before moving to Tauranga where I have been coaching for the last 20 years.
In 1995 I had a head on car crash and was in an induced coma for nine weeks, which changed my lifestyle. Now I concentrate on coaching adult Night School classes at the Mount Maunganui College and other venues. I also do private coaching for individuals or small groups.
I get great satisfaction and enjoyment coaching people who want to play better tennis and get a buzz out of seeing them improve their skills while having great fun.
This news article, which appeared in the Bay of Plenty Times, describes how I recovered from head injuries to carry on my passion – coaching tennis.
