Tauranga Model Aircraft Club
All ages welcome
The club has a flying site at Tect Park.
The site has two runways and offers the ideal flying location to land the most demanding models. recently undertaken Some civil works have recently been undertaken to create an elevated viewing space for visitors.
Members fly their craft any day of the week when the weather is suitable, and local council and Civil Aviation Authority rules applied. Our facilities are always open for members of the public to attend and watch our activities
The hobby is as expensive as enthusiasts want it to be – for $100 you can buy a training model and a transmitter but some aircraft cost as much as $5000.
Club nights are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Gliding Club Rooms at the Tauranga Airport. During the summer, weather permitting, the occasional club night is held at our field at TECT Park for social flying and a barbecue.
Indoor Flying
We have recently rekindled a winter programme of indoor flying. This is held on a Sunday afternoon from 2.30 to 4.30pm at the Mount Sports Centre. Dates set are 24 June, 8th July, 15th July (more to follow). This is an interesting way to sharpen piloting skills in a confined space with some very unusual model types.
