Yvonne McGill, (Master of Fine Arts (Elam)).
My early career was as a secondary school science teacher and later I taught art, photography and various other subjects. In the late 90’s, when my children were young, I went to study art at Elam Fine Arts School and graduated with a Masters degree. I like to explore what can be done with paint as a material.
My paintings are about the process and paint although viewers often see things within the paintings. I work spontaneously and try not to think things out too much. There is no pre-conception of what the picture will look like when I start, each mark informs the next. To ensure the work idea stays focused I use one or two painting techniques within the work.
Both Beginners and Advanced are welcome.
