LOL Laughter Wellness

Keep laughing – it makes everyone wonder what you’ve been up to.

Laughter is the best medicine for the soul !

The concept of laughter yoga is based on a scientific fact that the human body cannot differentiate between real laughter and fake laughter if done with willingness – the benefits are the same. Which is why, even if you are faking it you can be assured that you are still doing your body a big favour.

It is called laughter yoga is because it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing. This brings more oxygen to the body and the brain which makes one feel more energetic and healthy.

Contemporary Zouk Dance Classes

Zouk is a fun, modern dance suitable for all ages.

For many in the younger dance crowd, Zouk has rekindled an interest in partner dancing. For those who have experience dancing other dance styles, many of the moves, techniques or concepts from those dances can be imported to Zouk, making it relatively easy to adapt to this dance. In addition, Zouk can be danced to a variety of music and a variety of moods, making it a versatile dance to know. The steps are slow-quick-quick

Samba de Gafieira Dance Classes

Samba de Gafieira is a fun partner dance style sometime called “Happy Tango”.

The music is generally up-beat, creating a little spring in your step. At The Dance Factory we teach beginners the fundamentals through the traditional techniques, but mix the music up playing both modern and traditional styles. Samba de Gafieira is a very flexible dance. You can dance to 2 different rhythms, so you can dance at a slower pace or a faster pace depending on how you feel. The fundamentals can be built on and played with by leaders, and followers have the opportunity to add “embellishments” or styling which can be pretty or spectacular.

New Samba de Gafieira block course! Giros (turns)!
New beginner course in Samba de Gafieira (“happy tango”) partner dance. Open to new dancers and experienced. This course is focused on fun with turns. Starting with the fundamentals of samba and progressing through to trickier moves.
If you’re missing social dancing in the city, why not try a new style while you’re waiting to return?
No partner necessary, wear smooth comfortable shoes, masks in Arataki Community Centre please. QR scanning and hand sanitising compulsory.

West Coast Swing Block Course

West Coast Swing is a partner dance with roots in the Lindy Hop. It is characterised by an elastic look that results from its extension-compression technique of partner connection and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. John Freeman and Anisa Samrethnimol will be taking you through the fundamentals of West Coast Swing for the first hour, followed by practical.

Dress casual for comfort; flat shoes with firm sole recommended.

Where: KJ Studios, 8/47 Waihi Rd, Judea, Tauranga
